Role Overview

The primary objective of this position is to contribute to the education and non-dues revenue programming initiatives of the association. Featuring in-person training events, online workshops, webinars, and special programs presented both domestically and internationally, the Specialist contributes to fostering meaningful experiences for stakeholders in the apparel and footwear industry. Key attributes include attention to detail, coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously, communicating efficiently and effectively within a team, and completing projects with defined timelines in a fast-paced environment. The position reports to the Senior Vice President, Education & Corporate Marketing (ECM).


Qualified candidates will have at least three years related experience in program planning and volunteer/speaker management. Knowledge of supply chain management in the apparel and footwear industry is a plus. Association experience is a plus. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, develop processes, work within a team as well as independently, and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates proficiency in most Microsoft computer applications, familiarity with membership databases (iMIS a plus), and willingness to be trained in website management and registration systems. 

Job Description

The Program Specialist is responsible for managing various components of AAFA’s in-person training events and e-learning programs, including but not limited to content/agenda development, speaker identification and associated logistics, pre/post/on-site event coordination, and serving in both lead and supporting role functions. The Program Specialist will travel overnight four to six times/year, and some international travel may be required.

General Expectations: 

Maintain and provide the highest level of professionalism and customer service to all AAFA stakeholders.

Provide the ECM team with weekly program updates and related reports as requested.

Serve as lead in developing content for select in-person events and e-learning programs.

Coordinate subject matter expertise with other AAFA departments for program development.

Contribute to the success of the ECM department’s overall goals, programs, and tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

In-Person Training Event Responsibilities:

Assume the lead program role for AAFA’s domestic and international supply chain focused programs (3 U.S., 1 International); Product Safety Seminar, Sourcing Conference/Supply Chain Week, and Traceability Workshop. 

Responsible for overall program execution including, but not limited to, content and agenda development, speaker facilitation, marketing and promotion, registration tracking, pre/post attendee communication, and material preparation.

Create website landing pages for each event and set up registration via iMIS database.

Co-manage event marketing and promotional calendar with Communication & Marketing Department. 

Serve as the point of contact for program planning groups, lead planning calls, and communicate regularly with groups.

Coordinate all aspects of speaker logistics including invites/confirmations, collecting and compiling bios, headshots, social media information, and presentations, AV needs, and communicate on-site logistics. 

Serve in a program support role for three AAFA signature events when needed including technical setup, speaker logistics, registration coordination, and material preparation. 

E-Learning Responsibilities:

Work with the Manager, Sponsorships and Webinars to support the webinar program by reviewing content, creating and compiling PPT presentations, and ensuring quality control. 

Coordinate various components of the Online Workshop program including, but not limited to, advisory group planning participation, content development, facilitating language translation, registration, and report facilitation under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Education & Corporate Marketing and in conjunction with the Manager, Sponsorships and Webinars.
